How to find email message headers Print

Sometimes our Support department may request the full headers from an email message in order to troubleshoot mail delivery problems.

Every email message is made up of two parts: 1) the header and 2) the message body of the email. Every email you send or receive contains a full header that contains an extensive, detailed log of the network path taken by the message between the mail sender and the mail recipient(s).

The header you normally see will typically display lines such as From, To, Date, and Subject; the rest is hidden. We need all of that hidden header information.

All email clients provide access to the full set of email message headers. An explanation for finding and displaying the full header information can be found **[here at this link.](https://mxtoolbox.com/Public/Content/EmailHeaders/)**

If you use webmail to access your email:

- webmail.reliableisp.net - click on the 'View Full Header' link within each email.
- Horde - click on 'Plus' symbol and select 'View source'; a pop up will display all headers.
- RoundCube - click on the tiny arrow at the far right of the displayed message headers.
